80 Million Documents Reviewed in Landmark Global Bribery Investigation

First Advantage Litigation Consulting was selected by outside counsel to provide data processing, hosting, production and project management services for the highly-publicized, precedent-setting Siemens investigation by U.S. and German authorities on charges of FCPA and anti-bribery violations.

Initially, we received over 100 terabytes of data for pre-processing and culling. We then processed dozens of terabytes of ESI, reducing that collection of 200 million records by nearly 60%, and hosted the resulting 82 million records in a single database. Our project management team supported more than 1000 reviewers, working with outside counsel to devise complex search strategies and intricate workflows, and deliver productions to meet stringent government standards and deadlines.

To protect trade secrets and accommodate multijurisdictional data privacy regulations, First Advantage Litigation Consulting built custom data centers onsite at the client’s facilities and at offsite locations throughout Europe and Asia. While Siemens’ combined penalties totaled $1.6B USD, the largest FCPA fine in history, both the U.S. and German governments recognized the company for its extraordinary cooperation and remedial measures. In its public statements, Siemens noted that the successful management of the investigation and thoroughness, speed of the investigation, its cooperation with authorities and its extensive remedial measures resulted in very real benefits for the Company reflected in the resolutions with the authorities.
